MALAYSIANS are sorely missing the glory days of Barisan Nasional (BN), and hence the general election is the opportunity to amend the mistakes made previously, its chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.  

Zahid said that the public’s choice to vote for a different government in the last general election, breaking the 60-year domination of BN, worsened the country’s situation.  

“GE15 is the time for BN to regain the people’s mandate. This mandate is important because they (PH), who were given the opportunity to form the government in the last GE14, have worsened the situation of the country.    

“Many people miss the glory of BN that they have witnessed before. The glory of national development, economic revitalisation that promotes the well-being of the people.    

“This election is an opportunity for all citizens to join hands and be united. Let us together save this country and not experiment with those who have no legacy of nation-building records,” he said in a final message as the nation goes for polling tomorrow.

Zahid said BN would provide stability for the country and its record in decision-making proved it.

He said BN always adhered to collective principles, claiming its decision was based on priority, truth, and consistency.  

“Stability is very important for Malaysia to regain the confidence of foreign investors, the confidence of the country’s own people, that they have a bright future.    

“Rest assured, the practice in BN is that no leader is higher than the party and the people. With this principle, BN would be able to remain strong even when faced with various political obstacles,” he said.  

The former deputy prime minister said that BN was now moving forward to reform the party and government, promising progressive changes. 

He said that it was open to criticism and ready to receive views from the people.

“BN is ready to open a new chapter by making better policies and strengthening development.    

“We promise to make progressive changes over the next few months and serve the people better,” he said. – November 18, 2022.
